Tips for the End of Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time brings a multitude of things: higher energy rates, darkness around four o’clock, and a grumpy worker on Monday morning. With Daylight Saving Time ending this weekend, it may be the time to think about getting your sleep schedule ready for the change. Let’s take a look at how you can get prepared for this change this weekend!
Wake up at a Normal Time on Sunday
While many people are going to use this extra hour for an excuse to stay up an extra hour followed by an extra hour of sleeping, this is something you should skip. Sleeping in may leave you feeling out of sorts in the start of your work week. Skip sleeping in and stay on a normal sleep schedule to avoid the jetlag of Daylight Saving Time.
Prepare for Snack Attacks
Whenever your schedule is thrown off, it can be tempting to reach for sugar in order to reenergize yourself. But this practice can be harmful for your waistline and leave you feeling sluggish and worse than before. Instead of reaching for carbs and sugar, prepare for your snack attacks with some healthy foods you have on hand. Think of trying some Greek yogurt or some leftover pumpkin seeds for a healthy snack.
Keep Hydrated to Avoid Crashing
It is important to stay hydrated all of the time, but it is even more important to do so when you are feeling stressed and off your game. Drinking water can help you get through the week ahead so make sure you grab a water bottle for your hydration session.
Grab Some Sun While It Lasts
Daylight Saving Time serves as a reminder to us all that winter is coming. So make sure to get out there and catch some sun rays every day in order to get your vitamin D and melatonin. Sunlight is one of the rare external cues that your body needs in order to keep your circadian rhythms on track. Make the extra effort to get out of your office and soak up some sun. Take a walk during lunch or eat outside when it is warm enough so you can get some of those important vitamins.
