Summer Cookout Treats
Whether you are hosting your own summer barbecue or going to a potluck, there is nothing that screams summer more than desserts. So why not make some of your summer favorites for your party? Check out two of our favorite summer-inspired treats!
Who doesn’t love a s’more? Between the gooey chocolate to the crunchy graham cracker, it is everything adults and kids love. So why not make some? For this recipe, you will need:
- A cast iron skillet small enough to fit on your grill
- 12-ounces of chocolate chips
- One bag of mini marshmallows
- A box of graham crackers, broken into quarters
- Cooking spray
Before assembling ingredients, spray the pan and pour the chocolate chips in, spreading them along the bottom evenly. Pour the marshmallows over the chips and make sure they are evenly covering the chips. Put the pan on the grill until the chocolate and marshmallows are melted. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for a minute. Warn your guests that the pan is hot so it might be a good idea to wait a few more minutes before diving in.
Fresh Fruit Skewers
Who said summer desserts couldn’t be healthy for you? These super simple skewers will make everyone happy including the moms. This is a great recipe for getting the kids involved. Bring the ingredients to the party and let the kids make their own skewers. For this recipe, you will need:
- 5 large strawberries, hauled and halve
- ¼ cantaloupe cut into balls or cubes
- 2 bananas, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 apple, cut into chunks
- 20 skewers
Carefully poke the fruit into the skewer, placing at least two pieces of each fruit onto the stick. Arrange the fruit on a decorative platter and it is ready for serving.
These desserts will bring back memories of catching fireflies and playing tag in the front yard. Let us help you relive a portion of your childhood with these sweet summer cookout treats!
