5 Easy Snacks That Are Perfect For The Beach
Don't let those “Back to School” signs fool you; there is still a little summer left. And there is definitely enough time to get a few more beach days in before everyone has to pack away the beach blankets and bathing suits for next year. Whether you're hitting the eastern shore for a whole week or just a long weekend, or staying closer to home and having a beach day trip, beach eats are something you still need to think about. Boardwalk pizza is delicious, but you need some variety (and likely so does your wallet). Here are five easy snacks that you can pre-pack and take with you to the beach.
Nothing says summer like some fresh fruit, and it is a great snack to pack for the beach. Choose from your favorite summer fruit staples like watermelon, mango, strawberries, or pineapple. Just remember to prepare the fruit ahead of time by peeling and slicing it so that it’s easy to quickly eat and get back to the fun in the sun. For fruits that require little to no prep, opt for apples, bananas, berries, and grapes instead, since they only require washing.
Granola bars make a great quick snack, and they require no work on your part (unless you want to make your own). There are dozens of store-bought varieties to suit many tastes and budgets.
Veggies provide a snack that is cool, crispy, and refreshing while also being healthy. Choose whatever raw vegetables your family likes, such as baby carrots, sliced cucumber or squash, broccoli or cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, and even asparagus spears. Wash and pack them in the cooler or with small bags of ice to keep them cool. Pair them with small cups of hummus or dip for an even better treat.
While this snack requires a cooler (or at least an insulated lunchbox and frozen water bottles), it's worth it to pack some protein into your snacks. Cheese sticks or pre-sliced packages make great easy snacks that are healthy and require no preparation.
Trail mix is a great snack to have on hand where ever life takes you, including the beach, and it is super easy to make at home. The other great thing about trail mix is that you can easily customize it to you and your family's tastes. Trail mix usually starts with nuts, so choose one that you all like, such as almonds, peanuts, or even cashews. Next choose a dried fruit like raisin, cranberries, pineapple chunks, peaches, or mix up a combination. Next add any seeds that you like, such as sunflower or pumpkin, and mix in cereal or granola for extra crunch. Finally, add in some candy like M&Ms or Reese's Pieces, or leave them out for a healthier snack.
