To Whom It May Concern,
On 11/20/18 the Center for Disease Control, otherwise known as the “CDC”, advised consumers to not consume Romaine Lettuce because of a multistate outbreak of E.coli O157:H7. On 11/26/18, the CDC narrowed the scope of its warning to consumers of Romaine Lettuce by designating specific harvesting regions that were most likely implicated in the multistate outbreak. The CDC advised consumers to not eat Romaine Lettuce and for retailers to not sell Romaine lettuce that was harvested from the Central Coast growing regions of Northern and Central California.
Hearn Kirkwood has worked in partnership with our raw material suppliers to assure that our finished products do not contain Romaine from the Central Coast growing regions of Northern and Central California. All received shipments of Romaine raw material are identified at the point of receipt. Our establishment is no longer receiving shipments of Romaine from the Central Coast growing regions of Northern and Central California during this growing season.
Hearn Kirkwood will also begin following FDA’s voluntary Romaine labeling recommendations. Our finished goods will now have labeling information that informs the consumer of where the Romaine Lettuce was harvested.
Hearn Kirkwood is committed to providing safe, quality products and we have been doing so for over 70 years. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding this matter to https://www.hearnkirkwood.com/contact
